The scriptures of the Holy Bible are absolutely vital to living as a Christian in this world, and for eternity.  Without a familiar understanding of God's Word, it is impossible to live by the Holy Spirit.  Habitually studying the Bible fills us with power and excitement to spread His message of love, forgiveness, and salvation.

These are two online resources that I use on a regular basis to read, study, and memorize scripture.  I hope they are equally as useful for you as they are for me.

Bible Gateway is a tool for reading and researching scripture via the internet.  The website offers a large variety languages and translations available to use as well as  advanced searching capabilities that can be used to pinpoint words, phrases, and references in different Biblical passages. BibleGateway.com also has a verse of the day on their homepage, Bible commentaries, audio Bibles, and other resources available for use - all completely free of charge!

Blue Letter Bible offers an impressive 680,000 pages of resources for studying scripture and exists as a database that is edited, updated, and added to frequently in order to offer the most reliable and detailed information possible.  These resources include, an advanced Bible search tool, Bible study tools, audio, video, and text commentaries, audio sermon downloads, daily devotionals, reading plans, topical papers, theological notes, and much much more.

One of the most specialized tools that Blue Letter Bible offers is the Hebrew-Greek Lexicon translation tool which gives the reader access to the original Greek and Hebrew words of scripture.  Through this tool, Blue Letter Bible also enables the reader to cross-reference Bible texts, using the original language, to passages in the Old and New Testament.

Now, of course, there are many other online Bible resources, these are just two that I chose to highlight here that have been particularly useful in my life.

  • What are some other websites/internet resources that you use when studying the Bible?
  •
  • What do you find most useful about the sites listed above, or the other sites that you use?

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.  The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. (Psalm 19:7-8)

  1. I guess I am no true scholar of things biblical, but I use a wonderful interpretive bible that is loaded with explanations and footnotes; and Google. I'm impressed at your depth of study materials. Blessings.

  2. Logos Bible Software is another wonderful resource. The downside is that it costs a butt-load of money. However, if you own an iPhone, the Logos app is free!

  3. Great post AJ! I haven't heard of Blue Letter Bible before, but it definitely looks like I need to check that out... 680,000 pages, that sounds massive!

For offline Bible study I use Bibleworks. Pretty sweet software (I think it's similar to Logos.) My favorite feature is using the literal translations such as NASB and using the listings of the actual greek/hebrew words in the text to do word studies.
