Some thoughts after listening to a song by Jars of Clay...

So the question I had was - How can I fall in love with you God? But not just in a dreamy, sing-songy kind of way, I'm talking about
Total, Obsessive, Unconditional, Infatuation for my God.

"Open fields of wild flowers,
she breathes the air and flies away

She thanks her Jesus for the daises and the roses"

Because it is easy to love his creation, but "He's more than the laughter or the stars in the heavens" So how do I get past the creation and learn to love the creator? That answer, I do not know, so here is my prayer, my song, and my desire, "I want to fall in love with you".

"Sitting silent wearing Sunday best
The sermon echoes through the walls
A great salvation
through it calls to the people
who stare into nowhere, and can't feel the chains on their souls"

I feel like I am just like those people (in the above verse). God is so close to us "As close a heartbeat or a song on our lips" ready to meet us where we are and take us deeper. But, I continuously catch myself being satisfied with my faith, with mere Christianity...those are my chains. But the more I learn the more I realize that I know NOTHING! And that one cannot possibly know all there is to know of Christianity. So here is my prayer, this is my cry, this is my escape, "I want to fall in love with you".

"It seems too easy to call you "Savior",
Not close enough to call you "God"
So as I sit and think of words
I can mention
to show my devotion"

Nothing good can come without total and true conviction. Make your choice take your stand, "Am I going to pursue God wholeheartedly, (take note of the word whole) take up my cross and follow Christ up that hill? And in doing so find the answer to my prayer,

Lord "I Want to Fall in Love With You"

  4. Wow, Bryce, "How do I get past the creation and learn to love the Creator?" That is so profound and I have had that thought but never put it into words.
It should all point to Him and HIS beauty.
thank you for posing that .
