The First "Resource Roundup"

Greg Heil | 7:00 AM
Welcome to our first Resource Roundup! Since there are so many Christians that God has already blessed with amazing gifts of preaching and teaching, we thought that it would be a good idea to put together a post every week with a handful of links to resources that we think are extremely useful and insightful.

Another reason we are putting together these posts is because, again, this mission is bigger than just us! We don't live in a vacuum--we have millions of brothers and sisters in Christ spread all around the world. Let's get to know them and interact with them a bit!

Now on to the post:

Don't Shoot Other Christians

Mark Driscoll talks about the unity of all Christians and how we should humbly accept and love all of our brothers and sisters in Christ even if they don't go to our church. This is a topic that has crossed my mind a great deal over the last year, especially after visiting numerous local churches that all preached a solid gospel message.

The Christian in the Workplace
McKay Caston of Creekstone Church preaches about the role of Christians in the workplace. This is a topic that I don't think we hear about from the pulpit enough and as a result, this sermon was a breath of fresh air!

(Scroll down to 11/14/10 to find the sermon.)

Mark Driscoll writes about Christians in culture on The Resurgence. This is a pretty lengthy post but it is filled with quality material and deep insights about how we should view and engage our culture. Some of my favorite lines:
  • " Naïve Christians are the most vulnerable to engaging culture ignorantly and unpreparedly. If a Christian kid does not know how to walk as a Christian in culture, it’s no surprise that once he or she leaves their parents’ home after graduation, they are statistically likely to fail continue walking with Jesus."

  • "Rather, I am encouraging Christians to involve themselves in culture not merely for the purpose of entertainment but primarily for the purpose of education."

  • "Second, it is uncertain what distinguishes clean “Christian” and unclean “secular” entertainment forms and why Bibleman is so much better than Spiderman."

  4. There are some great concepts in here! I particularly like what Mark Driscoll has to say concerning Facebook and faith in Christ as our savior, and I'm not even done reading the entire post yet. Thanks for compiling this, brother!
